MIAT receives its first Boeing with Sky Interior

MIAT's Boeing 737-800 with Sky Interior configurationOn May 10, 2014 a brand new Boeing 737-800 named after the Chinggis Khaan’s (Genghis Khan) grandson Guyug Khaan under the flag of the national air carrier – MIAT Mongolian Airlines landed at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar at 16:00 local time.

Besides modern 12 business and 150 economy class seats, the MIAT’s new Boeing 737-800 features Sky Interior.  In 2010, the interior of the Next Generation Boeing 737 was updated to look similar to that of the Boeing 787. Known as the Boeing Sky Interior, it introduces new pivoting overhead bins (a first for a Boeing narrow-body aircraft), new sidewalls, new passenger service units, and LED mood lighting.

MIAT Mongolian Airlines plans to acquire two more next generation Boeing 737-800 in 2016 in addition to another similar aircraft purchased from Boeing Company in 2013. The airline took a significant step in upgrading and modernizing its fleet since 2011 with lease or acquisition of various aircraft such as wide-body or new aircraft for the first time in Mongolia and entering into agreement with Boeing Company.
